When I began writing Clean Air, having a serial killer made sense as part of the world-building, in the background of Izabel’s life. But as Izabel’s story started to intertwine with the killer’s, and his story began to come to the foreground, I wasn’t sure I wanted to keep writing my book. Not the way I had imagined it.
