The best thing about going to Dublin was that when we got back, I felt like I’d been away, well and truly away. And I needed that. It felt like I got enough distance from my job that I can return to it in September. Especially if we keep taking these small trips. Travel is turning into my giant, slightly expensive coping mechanism.

Maxi planned this trip for us entirely. We woke up early, arrived in Dublin around lunchtime, and had lunch at a gorgeous restaurant. It was a converted church, and the stained glass was beautiful, and the bar in the center, so much of it was gold, and the organ along the back wall was gold, too. The whole place was filled with warm lighting. I think I had the best whiskey sour that I’ve ever had.

At one point, a teenager was escorted up to the table across from us. She took a picture and then was led away again. We realized there was a plaque at that table about how Taylor Swift had once eaten there back in 2011. It was very sweet.
