A few important updates before the paywall…
In Springtime, my new book of poetry, comes out this month. You can order a copy here.
The epic poem tells the story of a person lost in the woods for four days, and it ends with gorgeous artwork by Nicky Arscott. I will be reading and signing books at Jewish Book Week in London and at AWP in Seattle.
I also have a new website. It was a gift from my partner, to celebrate In Springtime’s release. There are only two pages: the home page and the about page. I love its balance of minimalist and maximalist design. Check it out here.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming!
My son and I like to watch a TV show while we’re brushing our teeth, flossing, and rinsing with mouthwash. I use the show to time the mouthwash—his for 30 seconds and mine for 60.
We’ve been through a lot of great shows. Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Carmen Sandiego, Hilda, Centaurworld, Glitch Techs, Twelve Forever, Miraculous, Kid Cosmic, Home. I’m probably forgetting a bunch!
Right now we’re watching Teen Titans Go!. The show makes a lot of jokes about writers and writing, but one episode goes over the top. In it, they try to make a movie and two of the characters are in charge of writing the script. They focus more on sounding like writers than writing anything. And after I’m laughing and laughing, and we finish our whole bedtime routine, my son says, “Can you explain all the writer jokes to me?”
I couldn’t! It was too fast, and I didn’t know all of them off the top of my head. But I can do it now. I rewatched the clip over and over so I could catch them. So here we go:
